Big Sky Anglers Says:
Inspired by epic lakes (Lagos) in Patagonia, the Echo Lago is a 10' fly rod with an ideal balance of flex and leverage for making long casts with sinking lines or large dry flies. It is MUCH lighter in hand than it's predecessor, the Echo 3, making it a joy to fish all day. But this rod excels outside of the stillwater environment as well! The 5wt is a fantastic tool for big water nymphing and throwing hopper/dropper rigs for trout, and doubles as a sweet single-hand Spey rod. The 6wt is a blast for swinging flies on dry lines for summer run steelhead and chucking streamers on foot for lake run trout. And, the 7wt can throw shooting heads and streamers on big water with the best of them and cover you if you decide to do some heavy nymphing for winter steelhead in the Great Lakes or out west. With an amazing price point, you might buy one of these as a backup rod for your next adventure and end up fishing it more than your high end sticks!
Here's what our resident lake fan, Matt Klara has to say about the Echo Lago.
Lake fishermen are typically fishing from float tubes, small pontoons, or boats. This creates challenges when making long casts. The unique action and power blend matched to the 10′ length helps avoid hitting the water behind you on the back cast and the dreaded tailing loop.
The Lago series rods also live a double life as excellent summer steelhead or large trout nymphing rods.
There are three sizes including a 10ft 5wt, 10ft 6wt, and 10ft 7wt. The 10 footers cover the gamut of fish sizes while also masterfully handling any stillwater line on the market. The rods feature semi gloss cobalt blue finish. Every rod is 4 piece and comes with a hard cast and rod sock.
